We are open every day for guests wishing to visit just for the day so if you live locally you might like to visit Launde Abbey as a day guest. It’s a great place to visit at any time of year and we will offer you a warm welcome whether you are coming on your own as an individual guest or if you are visiting with friends, family or colleagues.
People visit Launde Abbey for lots of reasons, whether it’s for the peace and tranquility, to spend time in the lovely landscaped gardens, enjoying the views, or to meet with others as part of a creative group, there is something for everyone. There are plenty of places around the Abbey and its grounds where guests can relax and enjoy the time away from the busyness of life. We also have a Victorian kitchen garden to explore, where much of the produce used in our kitchen is grown.
For the enjoyment of all our guests we have a coffee area and dining room, a small licensed bar, as well as a small shop selling snacks, sweets and biscuits. There are also some great walks around the Abbey and maps are available from reception – just remember to bring your walking boots with you!
If you are visiting a local attraction or perhaps one of the vibrant market towns of Oakham, Stamford or Uppingham why not make a visit to Launde Abbey as part of your day out, perhaps calling in for coffee, afternoon tea or even lunch? You will be assured of a very warm welcome.
Launde is a great place to think, to relax or to spend time with friends or family. Bring a book or just enjoy the silence.
Children are always very welcome at Launde and there is plenty of space to run around, but we do ask that they be accompanied by an adult at all times, as there are a few hazards around the grounds, such as our pond.
Well behaved dogs are permitted in the grounds of Launde Abbey but we do ask that they are kept on a lead at all times and you clear up after them.
We make every effort to meet the needs of all our guests, but our buildings and facilities do have certain limitations on account of their age. For those with limited mobility we have recently installed lift access to the Chapel, and we have level access to the main Abbey house, our Restaurant, and the Stables block. There is also a lift in the Main House which gives access to our toilet facilities. Please discuss any particular needs with us before booking and we will endeavour to make your stay as easy for you as possible.
We have two levels of day visits available. If you would like to come and use the public facilities, such as our Sitting Room and the gardens the cost is £21.00. If you would prefer to come to Launde and meet with friends, or do some creative work as a day group, then we can provide a day room for you to meet in. The cost for this is £26.00. Both levels of visit include morning coffee, a two-course buffet lunch in our restaurant and tea and cake in the afternoon.
You are welcome to use one of our Chapels for private prayer or contemplation, or alternatively you are very welcome to join in one of the Community Services which take place throughout the day and include Contemplative Prayer, the Eucharist, Midday Prayer and Evening Prayer.
We are able to cater for a variety of diets, including vegetarians, and will be happy to talk to you about this before your visit.
The signal for mobile telephones is poor at Launde, but there is free wifi for those able to use Skype or similar services if you need to keep in touch while you’re with us.
If you need to be contacted while staying at the Abbey you’re welcome to ask people to phone us at Reception (01572 717254) and we’ll pass any messages along to you as quickly as possible.
Free wireless Internet access is available in some parts of the Abbey. Please ask at reception about how to connect your laptop or portable device. Launde Abbey is not, however, responsible for any material transmitted across the Internet or for its security.
To discuss your individual requirements in more detail, please contact email@example.com and we’ll be happy to go through all the options for visiting as a day guest with you.
We look forward to welcoming you to Launde Abbey.
