Launde 900: The Great Celebration
22nd June, 10:30 am to 4:00 pm
Join us for this Ancient Wells – Living Water event to mark the 900th anniversary of Launde Abbey: a celebration of the Abbey’s anniversary and a great day out for all the family!
The day begins with a great service of celebration led by the Bishops from the dioceses of Leicester and Peterborough. During the service we’ll sing, hear readings and poetry, reflect together on the value of prayer, silence and retreat, and take an opportunity to give thanks for the work of the Abbey. We’ll also commit ourselves afresh to the continuing ministry of Launde: our heart of prayer, our warmth of hospitality, and our service of the wider church and community.
The service will be followed by an afternoon packed with events and activities to suit all ages and tastes: poetry readings with Malcolm Guite, medieval archery, walks in the grounds and Launde woods, tours of Launde, and so much more.
There is no charge for participating in this day of celebration although there may be a small cost for specific activities. Food and drink will be available for purchase on site throughout the day. There will be a collection during the service offering you the opportunity to support the ongoing ministry of the Abbey.
