Retreats at Launde Abbey
A place for stillness and reflection
We offer a unique set of retreat facilities at Launde suitable for any retreat from an individual to a large group. We offer versatile meeting rooms (with audio/visual equipment) for groups from 2 to 80 people, breakout spaces, free parking and modern facilities that are perfect for residential or day retreat groups. The Abbey house, our repurposed Stables accommodation, and the extensive grounds and gardens provide a multitude of spaces where guests can find silence and stillness for meditation, prayer, reading, or times of quiet. We also have three chapels on the site. In our main Chapel the Launde community sustains a daily life of prayer and worship in which guests and retreat groups are welcome to share. All three chapels are available for individual prayer and quiet 24 hours a day, and are available for retreat groups to hold acts of worship by arrangement with the Warden.
These retreat facilities are complemented by our beautiful and comfortable en-suite bedrooms, all of which also have desks, chairs and hospitality trays for the convenience of retreatants. We can also offer dedicated disabled-friendly bedrooms. The standard of our catering is renowned. Our expert chefs are able to offer different levels of buffet lunch to suit your own individual requirements, including specific dietary needs. For residential retreatants our dinner menu is very comprehensive. Evening meetings or receptions as well as daytime events can be accommodated. Wherever possible we use locally-produced food in our kitchens, including fruit and vegetables grown in our own kitchen-garden. Refreshing Fairtrade tea/coffee and pastries or home-made biscuits are available mid-morning and delicious tea and cake are served mid-afternoon. Continental and cooked breakfasts can also be provided for early morning meetings.
