Weddings at Launde Abbey

Weddings at Launde Abbey

Launde Abbey is a wonderful wedding venue set in the Leicestershire countryside close to the border with Rutland.  The Abbey has great historical connections having been given to Thomas Cromwell by Henry VIII, it was then lived in by his son Gregory and his wife Elizabeth Seymour. Elizabeth was the sister of Jane Seymour, the third wife of Henry VIII.  Launde also features in the book Wolf Hall written by Hilary Mantel. Now a place of quiet contemplation, Launde Abbey is a spiritual retreat for most of the year, but selected summer dates are available for weddings where you and your guests can celebrate at this breathtakingly beautiful place.

Wedding receptions for up to 60 guests can be held in the Abbey’s dining room or for up to 80 guests you can choose the carefully restored Georgian stable block which overlooks a pretty pond.  For larger weddings we have beautiful gardens with mature trees, shrubs and many unusual features, which make the perfect setting for a marquee reception.  The Abbey has many period rooms available for parties and with exclusive use you can increase your numbers to up to 120  guests for an evening reception.

Photo opportunities abound, with a selection of rooms in the Abbey and acres of landscaped gardens providing a wonderful backdrop.  There’s en-suite accommodation too for up to 78 people in beautifully refurbished rooms in the Abbey and the Stable Block.

For those living in the parish of Loddington or fulfilling specific criteria and with no more than 80 guests, there is the option of getting married in the atmospheric medieval Chapel, ideal for small exclusive ceremonies.  See our Chapel page for more details.

Our chefs produce banquets that are second to none and you can tailor your wedding breakfast according to your own favourite dishes.  Special diets are also no problem and children too can be catered for with a special kiddy-friendly menu. See our Food and Drinks Page for more details.  We pride ourselves on the friendliness of our service and the quality of our cuisine. And we don’t forget the many personal touches that will make your day feel extra special!

There are so many possibilities for the perfect day and such a choice of unique surroundings that we don’t offer standardised wedding packages. Instead, we’d be delighted to talk with you personally about your own individual requirements.
