Arrival and Departure

We work hard to ensure bedrooms are available as quickly as possible on your day of arrival, but we can’t guarantee to have rooms ready until 3.00pm. Keys will be available either from Reception or, for some group events, from your group leader.

On your day of departure we ask you to vacate your room by 9.30am (so we have a chance to prepare them for the next guest).

Wifi and Mobile Phones

We have free wifi internet access in every room of the Abbey buildings. This service is offered free of charge to all our guests and visitors. Just look for the Launde Abbey network and agree to the brief terms and conditions to gain access.

On most networks the mobile signal is pretty poor at Launde since we’re deep in the countryside and surrounded by hills. It’s possible to make emergency calls from one of the phones in reception; just talk to a member of our staff.

Emergency contact information

In the event of an emergency during your stay your friends and family can contact you by calling 01572 717254. This phone is staffed during office hours and there is an answerphone, which is checked regularly outside of these times. A member of the residential community will pass on emergency messages if required.


Unfortunately we don’t offer the facility for overnight visitors to bring pets or other animals to Launde Abbey. However, assistance dogs are always welcome.

Vehicle Charging

Launde has a strong commitment to improving our green footprint and we’re working towards providing electric vehicle charging for cars and motorbikes as soon as possible. At present, however, our existing electrical system does not have the capacity to charge most vehicles.

Deposits and payments

For residential stays we ask you to make a non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. For larger bookings and longer retreats it is possible to make staged payments prior to the event.

The balance of your payment will be due on arrival or during your stay, as requested by our bookings staff. If a booking is made within 5 weeks of your visit then the full amount is payable at the time of making your booking.

We can accept cheques, debit cards and credit card payments. We can also accept cash in person, but please do not send cash through the post.

Cancellations and Insurance

When you book your stay with us you are entering into a legally binding contract. Cancelled bookings cause financial loss to the Abbey as they often cannot be refilled. In the event of a booking cancellation:

  • if you give us less than six months notice we will charge you 50% of the original fee;
  • if you give us less than four months notice we will charge you 75% of the original fee;
  • if you give us less than two months notice we will charge you the full fee.

We strongly recommend you consider taking out insurance and with this in mind we can recommend an insurance package to cover you in the event of the cancellation or curtailment of your booking; please speak to our bookings staff for more details. Some annual travel insurances may cover individuals in the event of cancellation, so please check with your insurer if you think this might apply.
