Post Beginners Retreat
26th March, 4:00 pm to 29th March, 9:30 am£370
If you have attended a Beginner’s Retreat at Launde Abbey or a short weekend retreat elsewhere and are hungry for more, this retreat is designed to offer you the next step. Led by Helen Newman and Claire Goode, we’ll be revisiting some ways of praying, touched on in the Beginner’s Retreat, and exploring them in more depth.
There will also be experience of other ancient approaches to prayer to help us enter into generous periods of silence and stillness – ways of praying which could also be carried into finding stillness and silence in the context of our daily lives afterwards.
A focus of the regular input offered during the retreat will be biblical characters and their going deeper with God to inform and inspire our own going deeper. This retreat is gentle, supportive and offers opportunities to meet on a one-to-one basis.
Helen is Chaplain at Launde Abbey. She came to Launde in March 2017 with her husband, David who is the Warden. Before that she was Chaplain at LOROS, a renowned hospice in Leicestershire. She has led many retreats and quiet days at Launde Abbey over recent years and is now an established member of the Community.
Revd Claire Goode is the newly appointed Chaplain at Launde Abbey. She is an experienced parish priest and retreat leader who was most recently the Vicar of a city centre church in Nottingham. Claire was also one of the team offering Spiritual Direction (Spiritual Accompaniment) and Mentoring in Southwell & Nottingham Diocese. She has been sewing ever since she can remember – she had her first sewing machine aged 9 years and has recently studied for a City and Guilds Patchwork and Quilting Certificate.
We want all our guests to be safe and secure when visiting Launde during the current public health situation. For details of our comprehensive Keeping You Safe programme click here.
Early bird price: £350 if booked before 31st January 2021.
