For centuries the Jesus Prayer has been leading Eastern Orthodox Christians into the wordless, imageless stillness of the mystery of God. More recently it has been helping a growing number of Christians in the West to find a deeper relationship with Him. This Quiet Day, led by Jim Wellington, will seek to address three questions: 1. What is the Jesus Prayer? 2. How do we pray the Jesus Prayer? 3. How can the Jesus Prayer help us?
The Reverend Dr Jim Wellington is a retired priest in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham, and was formerly in the Leicester diocese. His doctorate was awarded through the Archbishop’s Examination in Theology for a thesis on the origins of the Jesus Prayer. He also holds an M. Phil. from the University of Nottingham and an M. A. from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. He has written books on early Christian monasticism and contemporary prayer and spirituality.
Yes – I’d like to take part in this online Quiet Day!
