Signs of Hope: A Green Weekend
22nd November, 6:00 pm to 24th November, 6:00 pm£170
A retreat arranged in partnership with Green Christian for anyone who cares about the future of our planet. In the face of the great environmental and ecological challenges of our day this retreat will offer reasons for hope, not only through our spiritual resources in worship, prayer and bible study, but also by seeing what is happening in the world around us, both politically and practically.
The weekend will be led by Canon Brian Davis, Chair of Eco Church Harborough and of the Friends of Launde Abbey, and Revd Kevin Durrant, a Baptist Minister who also leads quiet days and retreats. Kevin will lead Bible Studies during the week-end revealing the great richness of ecological themes found in Scripture. Brian will host a ‘Question Time’ including, among others, a local MP. There will also be opportunities to share in the work of Green Christian, and the Way of Life which is at the heart of their discipleship.
There will also be presentations from a representative from the Allerton Trust, which runs a nearby farm and highly acclaimed conservation project (a site visit may be possible during the weekend) and the Director of the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust, whose good work in protecting and enhancing local wildlife includes the management of two woods belonging to Launde, and Rutland Water Nature Reserve.
More details can be found on the Green Christian website.
Early bird price: £165 if booked before 31st August 2019.
STAND-ALONE SATURDAY : those who cannot commit to the whole week-end may join us on Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm for £30 including lunch (£25 for those who car-share).
