SUMMARY:Contemplative and Charismatic: A Rooted and Grounded Retreat
DESCRIPTION:book now\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContemplative and Charismatic: A Rooted and Grounded Retreat \n\n\n\nA retreat hosted jointly by Renovaré Britain & Ireland (renovare.org.uk) and the Launde Abbey community (laundeabbey.org.uk)  \n\n\n\nContemplative and charismatic churches look\, on the surface\, to be poles apart: one tradition emphasises silence and reflection\, the other leans more into energetic worship and spiritual gifts. But at heart they both emphasise an intimate\, direct relationship with God through the Spirit. They’re like two very different streams flowing into a shared lake. \n\n\n\nIn this Rooted and Grounded retreat we’ll be taking time to explore these two streams in depth. As always\, we’ll tap into the rich wisdom and experience of a wide variety of thinkers and practitioners\, past and present. We’ll take time to find rest and refreshment in prayer\, worship\, silence and rest. And we’ll explore a wide range of spiritual practices you can take away with you to deepen your life of faith. \n\n\n\nThis retreat is open to anyone who wishes to participate\, but it does assume you have a good understanding of the Renovaré teaching about spiritual formation — either through taking part in a previous Rooted and Grounded retreat\, or in a similar Renovare event\, or from study of Richard Foster’s Streams of Living Water. If this material is new or unfamiliar\, why not consider coming on our next Rooted and Grounded retreat in October 2025? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRoy is a Companion and one of the founders of the Northumbria Community. He has served as a past President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and is a founding member of Renovare Britain and Ireland. A popular conference speaker\, writer\, retreat leader\, pioneer mentor and spiritual director\, Roy is passionate about encouraging people to love God\, listen well\, think deeply\, and live authentically and generously. He is an associate with the Northumbrian collective and The Commons Cooperative. He is married to Shirley and lives in their beloved Northumberland. They have four children and eight grandchildren. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlison came to Launde Abbey having been a Team Rector in rural ministry in Cambridgeshire.  She has crafted and led many reflective services and gatherings using spoken word\, music\, silence and creative prayer stations.  She is also an experienced workshop leader and mentor\, combining spirituality and theology with the practical challenges of leadership\, team-working and managing change\, informed by her working life before she was ordained as well as theological study and lifelong faith.  Alison loves praying outdoors\, a good cup of coffee\, noticing the cycle of the seasons and encouraging a wondering faith. She lives with her family on-site at Launde Abbey. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChris Webb is an Anglican priest\, author\, speaker and teacher dedicated to helping people experience a richer walk with God by growing in prayer and the spiritual life. He has ministered in a wide variety of contexts: as president of Renovaré\, a spiritual formation ministry in the USA; as parish priest in Welsh farming communities and steelworking towns; and even in a church for the homeless. Chris is the author of two books: The Fire of the Word (2011) and God-Soaked Life (2017). \n\n\n\nRetreat price: £495 (standard room) or £540 (character room)EARLY BIRD RATE: £465 (standard room) or £510 (character room) if booked by 13th April 2025!Price includes en-suite accommodation\, all meals\, and all retreat resources. It may be possible for you to extend your stay with us by adding an extra night before or after this retreat. SUMMARY:Thriving In Retirement
DESCRIPTION:book now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis retreat is tailored for those approaching retirement\, as well as those already retired. \n\n\n\nJesus didn’t use the word ‘retirement’ and the period sometimes called ‘the third age’ can seem at the same time both attractive and scary. This overnight retreat\, led by Florence and Clive Morton\, is for those at any stage who want to think about life in this ‘third age’\, beyond paid employment or ministry. It is open to all. \n\n\n\nThe retreat will be using short talks\, prayers\, time for reflection\, music\, poetry and prose\, and simple acts of worship. There will be the opportunity for a short individual conversation with one of the leaders if you wish. \n\n\n\nFlorence taught English in a Scottish comprehensive school in the 1970s and 80s and then worked in the Voluntary sector for a decade. In 2001 she had a couple of strokes. After recovering\, she trained as a spiritual director. \n\n\n\nClive is a Professor Emeritus at Middlesex University and Canon Emeritus at Peterborough Cathedral. He is also a trustee of Cambridgeshire Workplace Chaplaincy. He is a civil engineer and holds a PhD in industrial relations from the London School of Economics and was appointed OBE for his contribution to business and the community in 1992. Clive and Florence also ran Umbrian Retreats for 12 years and they describe themselves as Anglo-Baptists. \n\n\n\nRetreat price: £185 (standard room) or £200 (character room)EARLY BIRD RATE: £175 (standard room) or £190 (character room) if booked by Saturday 19th April 2025!Price includes en-suite accommodation\, all meals\, and all retreat resources.
