SUMMARY:Holy Week with the Launde Abbey Community
DESCRIPTION:book now\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHoly Week at Launde Abbey: a retreat with the Launde community \n\n\n\nStay and pray as part of the Launde Abbey Community in Holy Week.  \n\n\n\nMonday 14 April MC — Sunday 20 April Lunch \n\n\n\n“Something strange is happening\,” wrote Epiphanus of Cyprus in the fifth century; “there is a great silence on earth today\, a great silence and stillness. Christ has gone to search for our first parent\, saying: Rise from the dead\, for I am the Life of the dead. Rise up\, work of my hands\, you who were created in my image. Rise\, let us leave this place\, for you are in me and I am in you; together we form only one person and we cannot be separated.” \n\n\n\nFor two millennia Christians have marked Holy Week by revisiting and reflecting on the momentous events of that ancient Passover: Jesus in the temple\, the upper room\, the garden\, at Calvary\, outside the opened tomb. During this year’s Holy Week\, the Launde community will be following Luke’s telling of the story through prayer\, worship\, reading\, meditation\, silence and song. And we’d love you to join us. \n\n\n\nWe’re inviting you to come for as much or as little of the week as you can: perhaps just a single day of quiet\, or two or three days of retreat\, or for the whole week. Every day there will be worship and prayer in the Chapel\, meals shared with members of the community\, opportunities for pastoral conversations with community members\, and plenty of time and space for silence and reflection. Some of the services will also be opened up to members of local rural churches to share our worship. \n\n\n\nOn Easter Sunday we’ll celebrate together at the start of the day and share breakfast; after that you’re welcome either to head home\, or to join one of our local churches and come back to us for a hearty Sunday lunch. \n\n\n\nThe week will be structured around our shared services (those marked with an asterisk* are open to local residents): \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMonday (14 April): Cleansing: A House of Prayer for All \n\n\n\nLuke 19.41—20.19 \n\n\n\nThe Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple (Mal 3.1) \n\n\n\n8am Morning Prayer; 12pm *Midday Eucharist; 5pm Evening Prayer \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday (15 April): Controversy: The Wisdom of God \n\n\n\nLuke 20.20—21.4 \n\n\n\nThe stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone (Ps 118.22) \n\n\n\n8am Morning Prayer; 12pm *Midday Eucharist; 5pm Evening Prayer \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday (16 April): Catastrophe: The Shape of Things to Come  \n\n\n\nLuke 21.5-38 \n\n\n\nThe time has come for the judgement to begin with the household of God (1 Pt 4.17) \n\n\n\n8am Morning Prayer; 12pm *Midday Eucharist; 5pm Evening Prayer \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaundy Thursday (17 April): Communion: Drawn into the Heart of God \n\n\n\nLuke 22.1-23 \n\n\n\nI am the bread of life. SUMMARY:Holy Week Meanderings
DESCRIPTION:As Holy Week draws us into the heart of the Easter story\, take a couple of hours to step outside\, put on your coat and boots\, and meander through God’s creation. This is an opportunity to pause\, notice\, and listen—to slow down and reflect on the journey of Jesus in these final days before the cross. As you walk\, consider the themes of Holy Week—sacrifice\, love\, and hope—and be open to what God might be speaking through the stillness and beauty around you. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis guided walk will be led by Jo de Graaf. \n\n\n\nJo lives in Harby in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir with her husband\, Cor. They have five children and Jo is a very proud Oma to 10 grandchildren\, who bring the family such joy. A few years ago she felt God prompting and calling her to some form of ministry. Jo believes her ministry is to bring people into God’s Kingdom through love; using contemplative spirituality\, hospitality and service of all kinds to help people feel a sense of wholeness within the love of God. Not only is Jo one of our volunteer chaplains\, but is now the Associate Minister in the Parish of Old Dalby\, and also Lay Chair of Framland Deanery. \n\n\n\nThis walk is planned to begin at 10:00 am. Meet at the front of the main house. Why not stay for lunch at Launde Abbey café after? \n\n\n\nSuitable for all abilities. Alternative activities are available if the weather is wet. \n\n\n\nPrice: £5 per person. Places are limited to groups of 10\, so please book in advance.  \n\n\n\nThis price includes refreshments and a lovely homemade slice of cake from Launde Abbey. \n\n\n\nFor more information or to book your place call 01572 717254 or email info@launde.org.uk
