Launde Abbey is a Christian Retreat House and Conference Centre set in rural Leicestershire to the east of Leicester and six miles west from Oakham. We are open to the whole church and the wider community and every year we welcome thousands of visitors to a unique experience of warm hospitality and deep spirituality. The Abbey has 39 bedrooms, conference facilities, extensive cultivated gardens and a twelfth century Chapel which was part of an original Augustinian priory. We also have a café for visitors.
The Abbey employs a diverse staff team working across all aspects of hospitality, including management and finance, administration, maintenance, housekeeping, and operating our kitchen and dining rooms. Operations Manager is a new post at Launde Abbey. You will be responsible to the Warden for the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Abbey. You will ensure that all our guests experience excellent service though reception, dining room and housekeeping and that our buildings and gardens are well maintained and well presented.
The Operations Manager is one of two senior management posts – with the Business Manager – who are responsible to the Warden to fulfil the vision, goals and purpose of Launde Abbey as a Christian Retreat House and Conference Centre.
As operations manager you will understand the needs and challenges of working in a hospitality environment and have a passion for good service as perceived by our guests and the capacity and capability to lead our diverse teams. You will have the teamwork and leadership skills to harness exiting ways of working and the creativity to develop new ideas and importantly the wisdom to discern with the broader team at Launde the right time for each.
Food & Beverage Supervisor
We are looking to recruit a new Food & Beverage Supervisor to lead our dining room team. As supervisor, you will lead all activities in the dining room, supervising staff and working closely with the chefs and kitchen team. You will collaborate with the Operations Manager and Group Bookings team to ensure that booking arrangements are clear and deliverable. We run a small team, so as well as being a leader, you will be hands-on serving guests in the dining room and café and you will set the tone for your team in offering generous Launde hospitality.
Our dining room runs three main sessions usually at set times – breakfast at 8:30, lunch at 12:45 and dinner at 18:30. Typically 40-50 covers – though this can vary up and down depending on occupancy with some occasional significantly larger events. Our café is popular with walk-in visitors, particularly at weekends.
