The Chapel | Weddings at Launde Abbey
The atmospheric medieval Chapel of St John the Baptist is ideal for small, exclusive ceremonies. It has seating for up to 80 people and offers peaceful tranquillity for your happy occasion.
Afterwards, we’ll host your reception in the sumptuous rooms of the Abbey house, or, if you intend to invite larger numbers of guests to join you for the reception, then we have a number of marquee suppliers who will be able to talk you through size and cost options.
Our superbly attentive staff care will look after your family and friends while you enjoy having photographs taken in the Abbey and in the spectacular landscaped gardens. You can explore the orchard, Victorian kitchen garden and picturesque woods with views right across the valley. And when the day ends your guests will be accommodated in style in the Abbey buildings.
There are strict legal criteria which must be satisfied if you want your actual wedding ceremony to be held in the Chapel, although blessings are available at the Abbey if you have had a legal ceremony elsewhere. To have a Blessing, you don’t need to satisfy the above criteria.
You must satisfy one of three criteria, either
- live in the Parish of Loddington, or
- have a legal “qualifying connection” with the Parish of Loddington (see below), or
- habitually worship in Loddington Church for a period of not less than six months before the publication of banns.
For more information about these criteria, including the definition of a “qualifying connection”, please see the UK Government’s guidance on: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/2008/1/section/1
If you are uncertain whether or not you can fulfil these criteria, please contact us for advice.
