God’s Creation, Narnia and Middle-Earth

This is a retreat for the refreshment of the spirit as Andy Swinford leads us on a deep dive into the gardens, forests, seasons, mountains and stars of the stories of C S Lewis and J R R Tolkien. The wind of joy breathes through these tales (no prior knowledge needed!) and we will draw close to God by using the insights they provide, arising out of the deep faith of the writers. There will be plenty of space for reflection, walking, prayer, and enjoying God’s wonderful creation in the beautiful grounds and surroundings of Launde Abbey.

Andy Swinford formerly taught English Literature and is the author of 14 essays in ‘The Christian Tradition in English Literature’. He has also published ‘The Practice of Joy: insights from the stories of C S Lewis’. He also delivers multimedia presentations and online classes about C S Lewis. Walking in the countryside and beekeeping are among his chief pleasures.
