The Library

Launde Abbey has a wonderful library focused mainly on Christian belief, spirituality, prayer and discipleship. Guests are welcome to browse the shelves and make use of the books throughout their stay at the Abbey.

The core of the collection was developed in the second half of the twentieth century when the Abbey was used as a theological training college (as well as a retreat house); there’s a list of those who trained for ministry with us in the Gallery alcove. We’ve been working hard to develop the collection since then, and to keep the titles up to date.

There are also armchairs, upright chairs and a desk available in the library for those who want a relaxing read or a more serious period of study.

We’re happy to let guests take the books to their rooms or into the grounds, and to keep hold of them throughout their stay. Unfortunately, we don’t currently have any facility for guests to borrow books to take off-site.
