Launde Abbey’s small permanent community is made up of the members of the regular ministry team, who all either live or stay onsite or in a nearby village, together with all those who live in the three households in the Abbey and its grounds. Members of the ministry team, their spouses and one or two other members of staff, sustain the daily rhythm of prayer at the heart of the Abbey’s hospitality.

The College of Chaplains extends the Launde Abbey Community to a further group of lay, ordained, Anglican and non-Anglican ministers who pray, work and minister together.
Our staff also form part of the wider Launde Abbey Community though in a different way.

Each day, our guests become a part of the Launde Abbey Community for that day or for the duration of their stay. Those that pray with us in the Chapel, or alongside us elsewhere on the site, are welcome companions.
We like to think of the Launde Abbey Community as fluid; a community that expands to include those who are with us for a while on their pilgrim journey, and changing, perhaps contracting, when they leave and others join, but always continuing the journey, always here to be joined again when guests return.
