St John The Baptist
Residents are invited to participate in the rhythm of prayer that is observed daily at the Abbey. Our Prayer Services take place in the medieval St John The Baptist Chapel located in the Main House.
Each service is led by a member of the Abbey clergy team and follows the Anglican liturgy. The day starts with silent prayer at 7:30 am followed by Eucharist celebrated at 8:00 am. Midday prayer is at 12:00 pm and Evening Prayer is at 5:00 pm, beginning with silence at 4:30 pm.

Use of the Chapel out of these hours for personal prayer is available for residents or Companions of the Abbey only, and, to ensure privacy, is closed to visitors unless through prior arrangement with a member of the Abbey team.
The St John The Baptist, our main Chapel, is one of three dedicated Chapel spaces we have across the Launde Abbey estate. Available at all times for personal prayer (or prayer amongst a small group) are our Augustinian and Emmaus Chapels.
Augustinian Chapel
Situated in the Main House and opposite the entrance to the St John The Baptist Chapel is the Augustinian Chapel or crypt. This is an atmospheric and intimate space with low light and icons to stimulate reflection and prayerfulness.

Emmaus Chapel
Away from the Main House and across the main lawn, tucked away at the back of the Stables Block is the Emmaus Chapel. A small but charming room decorated with icons and with scripture present and open on the front table. Quietness and tranquillity make this space suited for personal prayer.
